Short answer: in Stuart, a full paver clean, re-sand and seal costs about $1.50–$2.75 per sq ft. Cleaning alone is $0.30–$0.60 per sq ft. Stripping an old sealer that has gone white adds $1.00–$2.25 per sq ft. Travertine and shell stone run $1.25–$2.50 per sq ft. Most homeowners spend $900–$1,650 on a driveway and $1,600–$2,750 on a pool deck.
These numbers come from what paver sealing is quoted at across South and Central Florida, adjusted for Martin County, and are reviewed each year. They are not a quote. Two driveways of the same size can differ by a third in price depending on what’s already on them, and the rest of this page explains why.

Typical jobs and what they come to
| Job | Estimated price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Two-car driveway, ~600 sq ft | $900–$1,650 | Clean, re-sand, two coats |
| Pool deck, ~1,000 sq ft | $1,600–$2,750 | Clean, re-sand, low-sheen sealer |
| Back patio, ~300 sq ft | $450–$825 | Usually hits the small-job minimum |
| Front walk and entry, ~150 sq ft | $450–$650 | Small-job minimum applies; cheaper alongside a driveway |
| Driveway + walk + pool deck, ~1,750 sq ft | $2,600–$4,800 | Whole-property jobs price toward the low end per sq ft |
Small areas cost more per square foot because setup, cleaning equipment and a sealer batch take the same time whether the patio is 150 or 600 square feet. That is why adding the front walk to a driveway job costs far less than booking it on its own.

What moves the price on a Stuart property
What’s already on the pavers
Bare pavers are the cheapest to seal. Pavers with an old acrylic coat that is still sound can often be cleaned and recoated with a compatible product. Pavers with a coating that has gone milky, peeled or yellowed have to be stripped, and stripping is the single biggest swing factor: it can add 40 to 80 percent to a job.
Shade, irrigation and the north side
Under oaks and on the north side of a house, pavers grow algae and black mildew that take longer to treat. Irrigation on well water leaves orange rust stains, common around older Stuart and Palm City lots, which need a separate rust remover before sealing.
How much sand the joints have lost
Joints that are nearly empty take more sand and more time to fill and settle. Steep driveway aprons and pool decks that get heavy runoff sometimes call for polymeric sand, which costs more than plain joint sand.
Finish and product
A natural-look water-based sealer and a solvent-based wet look are priced differently, and premium urethane products sit above both. The difference on a driveway is usually tens of dollars, not hundreds; the prep is what you’re mostly paying for.
Access and timing
Pavers inside a screened pool cage, behind a gate the truck can’t reach, or in a condo common area with set work hours take longer. Summer jobs are timed around the afternoon storms, which sometimes splits a job over two mornings without changing the price.
Cost per square foot, and why we still measure
Per-square-foot pricing is useful for comparing quotes, but only if both quotes cover the same work. A quote of $1.00 a foot that skips re-sanding and uses one coat is not cheaper than $1.90 for two coats and full joint sand; it just fails sooner. Ask every company for square footage, number of coats, the sealer type, and whether sand is included.
Pool decks and travertine
Pool decks cost a little more per foot than driveways: more edges and steps, a pool to protect from runoff, and often a non-slip additive at $0.10–$0.25 per sq ft. Travertine and shell stone get a penetrating sealer at $1.25–$2.50 per sq ft. Details are on the travertine and pool deck page.
Repairs before sealing
Sunken areas are reset at about $12–$28 per sq ft of affected area, with a $350–$650 minimum if the repair is the only work. Most repairs are small and priced on the same quote as the sealing. See paver repair and re-sanding.
Why local quotes disagree so much
Homeowners in Stuart often get three paver sealing quotes that are hundreds of dollars apart, and the gap is rarely profit. One company prices one coat, another two. One includes re-sanding, another treats it as an extra. One sees an old sealer and prices stripping, another plans to coat over it and hope. The cheapest quote is often the one that has left a step out, and the step it leaves out tends to be the one that stops the job turning white or the sand washing out by next summer. When quotes differ, ask what each one leaves out.
Prices in nearby towns
Palm City, Jensen Beach and Port St. Lucie are priced the same way as Stuart. See the local pages for what tends to differ on those properties: Palm City, Jensen Beach and Port St. Lucie.
Cost questions
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes. The smallest full clean-and-seal job is about $450–$650, because setup and cleanup take the same time on a small patio as a large one.
Is it cheaper to just clean the pavers?
Up front, yes: cleaning alone is $0.30–$0.60 per sq ft. But unsealed pavers fade and lose joint sand faster, so most people end up cleaning more often than they would reseal.
Do you charge to come out and quote?
No. The visit, the measurement and the written quote are free, and there is no obligation.
Why is stripping old sealer so expensive?
It is slow, chemical work. The old coating has to be dissolved and rinsed off completely, sometimes twice, and the pavers then have to dry out before resealing.
How do I compare two quotes?
Check that both list the square footage, the number of coats, the sealer type, and whether cleaning, re-sanding and any stripping are included. Then compare the totals.
